IV – Hospital Beds

Page

On Tuesday the 1st April (April Fools Day) very early in the morning we headed to Westmead Private Hospital where the operation would take place. We arrived at about 6.30am, I was taken in and prepped and surgery began at about 7.30am. I woke up in recovery at Midday, in agony. The majority of the pain was actually in my right shoulder, which they moved around angles it probably shouldn’t have been moved to and was pressed on harder that it should have been pressed on! My previous arm injury and pathetic excuse for a shoulder joint are the main culprits for this pain post surgery.

After they sorted out the pain medication and got me slightly high, I was taken back to my room where Mum and Lukey were waiting to greet me. The evening of surgery and the next day, I felt really good. Attached to the morphine drip with a 5 minute lock out timer, which I am no stranger to, was a great novelty. On Thursday when I was taken off the drip and put on oral pain relief tablets, I became really ill. I had to ask people that were planning to visit me in hospital not to come as I really was not in a good way!

OH EM GEE.. the nursing staff. Amazing. So kind and caring and attentive. I felt like I actually became friends with some of them. I just so happened to have a beautiful lady named Gloria from Columbia as a day time nurse and my overnight nurse was a man who was an absolute dead ringer for Cam. I should have actually had a photo with him. The perfect hospital visit for a Modern Family fan.

But by Saturday afternoon, I came good and was given the all clear to go home. The doctor had said the operation was as successful as they could have hoped for and my healing was coming along well.

I had so many visitors, gifts, flowers, messages, emails and everything else from people wishing me well, it was amazing. Thankyou.
